A brand new gangway was commissioned when ‘Aidaprima’, an Italian cruise ship, docked in Zeebrugge. The new gangway is intended to optimise the smooth handling of disembarking and embarking passengers.
Over the past few years Zeebrugge has been an increasingly frequent port of call for prestigious cruise ships. The large number of passengers on board must be able to disembark quickly and smoothly in order to make the most of their ‘limited time’ in Belgium.
Blommaert undertook the development and successful commissioning of this gangway. The new gangway is no less than 30 metres long and weighs 5 tonnes. The impressive rig consists of three sections and is therefore capable of being dismantled. This enables its length to be reduced to 21 metres.
All Blommaert’s gangways are subjected to inspection and load tests. This gives us 100% certainty as to their safety. Investing in a new gangway is a clear signal from Zeebrugge to the cruise companies. This enables an optimal service to be offered, such that Zeebrugge will be chosen even more often in the future.
